Hearthstone Decklist Guide: Plague Druid

The expansion of the Knights of the Frozen Throne made the Druids very strong. The existing Druid Deck is getting stronger, and several new decks have also appeared.

One of the new decks that appears in this expansion is the Plague Druid which was first created by Kolento. Even though it was used when meta-games were not really formed yet, he managed to get very high results and win-rates.

Decklist

This deck is a bit of a mix between the ramp and the Druid token / aggro. So don't forget to bring the available ramp tools, namely Innervate, Wild Growth, Mire Keeper, and also Nourish. To take advantage of the ramp, you can bring a number of late game cards such as Ultimate Infestation, Malfurion the Pestilent, and Bonemare.

All of your aggressive options are minion-centered, especially Minion with Taunt, the Druid of The Swarm, Spreading Plague, Crypt Lord, and Tar Creeper. The effect of Malfurion the Pestilent can also give you two minions for this. Your aggressive initiative is then strengthened by buffs like Mark of the Lotus, Power of the Wild, and Strongshell Scavenger.

Variant and Tech Choice
You have several variant options for this deck. If you feel you don't need to use two Ultimate Infestations, you can replace them with The Lich King. Not only that, if you want to have a power creep / minion, you can replace Living Mana with the Bittertide Hydra.

If for reasons of your budget you can only get one of the Legendary cards, I suggest you take the Pestilent Malfurion and replace the Fandral with Crypt Lord or Swipe.

For tech choice, I use Crazed Alchemist. The effect is very useful in dealing with defensive mechanisms of opponents such as Doomsayer or Taunt with high health. Even if the situation is possible, this card can also be one of the finisher by using it on the Crypt Lord.

Alternatively, if you often encounter Druids who also use a lot of Taunt, you can bring The Black Knight.

Gameplay

Actually, how to play Plague Druids is a bit like the Druid Token. At the beginning of the game you will have minimal initiative, then swing by bringing up some minions that get buffs at once.

In some initial turns, you want to ramp either with Innervate or Wild Growth. That way you can reach your power spike faster. Once you have enough or when you have one or two powerful minions that can survive on the board, you can use the buff you have. That way the board you have becomes even stronger.

The only disadvantage of this deck is that it doesn't have a clear board. But thanks to Spreading Plague, you can easily do the swing tempo, especially if the opponent's minion on board is a small minion. If you can give buffs to the minion, you can actually turn superior.

Entering the late game, you can establish your superiority with Bonemare or Malfurion the Pestilence. Both, plus Ultimate Infestation, can be a finisher. But even if you are left behind, you can use all three cards to come back.

Overall, this deck is quite solid because even though it doesn't have a strong clear board or removal, this deck is capable of doing very strong tempo play. There are not many conditions that make it impossible for you to win, but one of them is when you face a control deck that can answer all your initiatives and drain all your ammunition effectively.
